this song is political commentary i guess but more really just an expression of irritation that the border children cages were likened to dog kennels because i work with dogs and have raised dogs in kennels since i was 13 and boy if i haven't always literally thought 'kennel' was a special cute word that means 'cage'
lyrics
"I'm fed, well-read," I said. "Well-said," he said. Well, I don't know
"You act intact," he quacked. "In fact?" I cracked. He lacked resolve
Feeling like a dog in a cage, but they're not called cages
Cus people don't like to say cages
It's something that's like a cage, it looks just like a cage
Feeling like a person in a cage, but we don't say cages
Cus nobody likes to hear cages
It's more like a dog's cage which is not a cage
"Let's go," he crowed. "I know you've known." I've sown my own mistakes
"Let's not," I thought, besotted, not uncaught in rotting oils
Feeling like a dog in a cage, but they're not called cages
Cus nobody likes to say cages
It's something that looks just like a cage but it isn't a cage
Feeling like a person in a cage, but we don't say cages
Nobody likes to hear cages
It's more like a dog's cage, dog's cages aren't cages.
